Workplace Mental Health Training by Head Strong Workplaces

We Don’t. Do. Boring

Our training is the kind that gets people talking, in a good way. Think practical tools, real conversations and a whole lot less eye rolling.

Head Strong Workplaces delivers workplace mental health training that helps people understand themselves, support each other and build mentally healthy workplaces. Our sessions are practical, engaging and designed for adult brains, which is handy because adult brains are usually the ones sitting in the room.

We offer mental health awareness training in the workplace, psychosocial risk training, leadership training, resilience and wellbeing workshops, Mental Health First Aid and tailored workplace mental health programs for teams that need something a little more specific.

So, check out our workshop options below. Or, if you’ve got something a little bit different in mind, we are definitely up for it. Just contact us and we can tailor something special, just for you.

Leadership Training

Our workplace leadership training is suited to both new and experienced leaders. Our workshops bring together psychology, employment law and neuroscience to deliver practical strategies for people focused and supportive leadership.

These sessions help leaders understand their role in workplace mental health, psychological safety, team culture and psychosocial risk management.

Psychosocial Risk

“Psychosocial risk management” sounds like something you need a law degree, a crystal ball and at least three very strong coffees to figure out.
But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Our psychosocial risk workshops are designed for real world leaders, HR teams and WHS professionals who want to understand what is required, build confidence and actually make a difference to mental health and wellbeing in their workplaces.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental health and mental illness continue to be important topics in the workplace. Mental Health First Aid training is an excellent foundation program to build mental health awareness, reduce stigma and support a culture of peer support.

It can also form part of a broader workplace mental health training program when paired with clear governance, referral pathways and ongoing support.

Resilience & Wellbeing

With lives becoming busier and workplaces under more pressure than ever, resilience becomes a key factor in workplace mental health.

Our resilience and wellbeing training helps employees understand stress, coping strategies, emotional regulation and the practical things that help keep enough in the emotional tank to get through the ups and downs.

Team Building & Communication Skills

Supportive teams and a positive work environment can help improve productivity, reduce absenteeism and reduce the risk of psychological injuries in the workplace.

Created with the adult brain in mind, our team building and communication skills training helps build healthy, connected teams through practical activities, real conversations and a pleasingly low amount of awkward forced fun.

Mental health awareness training that goes beyond the tick box

Mental health awareness training in the workplace should do more than tell people that mental health matters. Most people already know that. The trickier part is helping them understand what support actually looks like when they are back at work, under pressure and trying to remember where they saved that document.

Our workplace mental health awareness training helps employees and leaders build confidence around mental health conversations, stress, stigma, support pathways and psychologically safer ways of working.

Depending on what your workplace needs, training can help your people understand:

  • Mental health and mental illness in a workplace context
  • How stress, emotion and the brain affect behaviour at work
  • How to recognise early warning signs that someone may be struggling
  • How to have supportive conversations without accidentally making things weird
  • How to connect people with the right support
  • How individual wellbeing connects with team culture, leadership and psychosocial risk

The goal is not to turn everyone into a counsellor. Please do not do that. The goal is to build practical confidence, shared language and a healthier workplace culture.

Workplace Training your team actually wants to do

When I first started working for myself after many years in government and the private sector, I made a vow. A vow that I would never subject anyone to the kind of workplace training that made you feel like you were being punished. Where you didn’t know why you were being punished, but you knew you must have done something bad to warrant this monotone death by PowerPoint torture that they were calling “training”.

Sheesh, that’s a little intense. Clearly I’m still working through some stuff.

The point is, at Head Strong we do things differently.

As a psychologist, I understand mostly how the human brain works and I use that to create workplace mental health training experiences for adult brains. I work with you to make sure the content is relevant to your employees and resonates with them and their day to day reality. I make sure there are plenty of engaging activities that are interesting and fun but never threatening. And I create opportunities for genuine connection to build healthier and more supportive teams.

Our training options include resilience, team building, leadership development, Mental Health First Aid, psychosocial risk and mentally healthy workplace training. And don’t forget, we can tailor any of our existing workshops or build something from the ground up just for you.

If you’re ready for workplace training that your employees will actually thank you for, then it’s time to get Head Strong.

Why our workplace mental health training works

Workplace mental health training works best when it feels relevant, safe and useful. If people feel lectured at, talked down to or trapped in a room with a 94 slide deck, they tend to switch off.

Weirdly enough.

At Head Strong, our training is developed and delivered by experienced health professionals who understand mental health, workplace behaviour, adult learning and the very real complexity of modern work.

We draw from psychology, neuroscience, workplace mental health research and practical organisational experience to create training that helps people build capability, not just sit through content.

That means your team gets training that is:

  • Evidence informed
  • Practical and relevant to your workplace
  • Designed for adult learning
  • Interactive without being terrifying
  • Connected to workplace mental health and wellbeing
  • Able to support broader workplace mental health programs
  • Tailored to your people, risks and goals

Because mentally healthy workplace training should feel useful on the day and still be useful the next time someone is dealing with stress, conflict, change or a tricky conversation.
