Mental Health First Aid

We are accredited to deliver Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) programs developed by Mental Health First Aid Australia, a national, not-for-profit organisation focussed on mental health training and research. Mental health first aid is the help provided to a person who is developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
We consistently receive very positive feedback about our MHFA courses – check out some of the testimonials from previous participants below or on our Testimonials page.

Mental Health First Aid (Standard Course)

The 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course teaches participants how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation. Participants also have an opportunity to become an accredited ‘MHFAider’ on completion of the course. + Signs that a person may be suicidal
+ How to ask about thoughts of suicide
+ What you can do to help keep the person safe
+ How to assist the person to access professional help
